- School is open on some federal holidays: Columbus Day (Monday, Oct. 12) and Veterans Day (Wednesday, Nov. 11). Banks, post offices and many offices close; school does not.
- The district calendar does not list parent-teacher conferences.
- The school year calendar lists no testing dates; the district posts a separate testing calendar.
- Some days off may change: weather makeup day, Jan. 4 (No school unless the district needs it to make up a day lost to weather) and Presidents Day (weather makeup day), Feb. 15 (No school unless the district needs it to make up a day lost to weather).
- The last day can move. May 27, or Friday, May 28 if the district needs that weather makeup day. The planned last day is Thursday, May 27; it can fall from Thursday, May 27 to Friday, May 28.

What the district notes
- District 50 runs a modified calendar with intersessions: two weeks off in the fall (Sept. 28-Oct. 9) and extra days off before winter break (Dec. 17-18) and spring break (March 24-25). The calendar marks Sept. 28-29, Dec. 17-18 and March 24-25 as remediation days; the rest of the intersession is a break for all students. Check with your school if your child is asked to attend remediation.
- The three weather makeup days (Monday, Jan. 4, Presidents Day, Feb. 15, and Friday, May 28) are days off unless the district needs them. If May 28 is used, it becomes the last day of school.
- Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3, is a holiday with schools and offices closed.
