Also worth knowing
- School is open on some federal holidays: Columbus Day (Monday, Oct. 11) and Veterans Day (Thursday, Nov. 11). Banks, post offices and many offices close; school does not.
- The calendar lists no testing dates.
- After the last day, the calendar still shows Memorial Day (May 29). Students are already out.

Grading periods
Granite prints 47, 38, 46 and 48 days for the four terms (179 in all). The 1st and 3rd term counts include the compensatory days for conferences (Sept. 17 and Feb. 18), when students stay home, so the table, which counts days students attend, shows 46, 38, 45 and 48.

What the district notes
- Parent-teacher conferences: elementary SEP (Student Education Plan) conferences Sept. 13 and 14 and Feb. 15 and 16; junior highs Sept. 14 and 15 and Feb. 16 and 17; high schools Sept. 15 and 16 and Feb. 14 and 15. The days off on Sept. 17 and Feb. 18 are compensatory days for these conferences.
- The printed calendar counts 179 school days, including the two compensatory days for conferences (Sept. 17 and Feb. 18), when students do not attend. Students attend 177 days.
- The calendar's key says the P planning day early outs are for elementary schools only and prints no dismissal times. Junior high and high school families can check their school's bell schedule.
- The calendar lists the senior high graduation ceremony as TBA.
