Add the WCSD calendar to your phone

Pick a file. Each one is an all-day event per day off, and a break is one event across all its days.

On an iPhone

Tap a file above, then tap Add All. The dates go into the calendar you choose.

In Google Calendar

On a computer, open Google Calendar, then Settings, then Import & export. Choose the file and the calendar to add it to. The dates show up on your Android phone too.

In Outlook

Open the downloaded file, or in Outlook on the web go to Add calendar, then Upload from file.

These files are a copy of the calendar today. If the district changes a date, download the file again.

WCSD vacations and holidays, 2026-27

Every day with no school for students, from the first day to the last: 15 entries and 40 weekdays in all.

WCSD early release days

The Balanced Calendar prints no early release or half days. It gives no hours for conference week, so check your school's schedule that week.

Schools can still send their own early dismissal notices, so watch for those.

Calendar notes: what to plan around

Long weekends and breaks

Every stretch of three or more days with no school, counting weekends.

• 4-day weekend: Saturday, Aug. 22 to Tuesday, Aug. 25. Hawk Fire closure (school closed). Back Wednesday, Aug. 26.
• 3-day weekend: Saturday, Sept. 5 to Monday, Sept. 7. Labor Day. Back Tuesday, Sept. 8.
• 10 days off in a row: Saturday, Oct. 3 to Monday, Oct. 12. Fall break and teacher professional development day. Back Tuesday, Oct. 13.
• 3-day weekend: Friday, Oct. 30 to Sunday, Nov. 1. Nevada Day. Back Monday, Nov. 2.

• 3-day weekend: Saturday, May 29 to Monday, May 31. Memorial Day. Back Tuesday, June 1.

Weeks with fewer than five school days

Twelve weeks have fewer than five school days, and five weeks have none at all.

Teacher workdays: no school for students

Four of the days off are staff days. Teachers work; students stay home. Plan child care as you would for a holiday.

• Monday, Oct. 12: teacher professional development day
• Tuesday, Nov. 3: teacher professional development day
• Friday, Dec. 18: teacher workday
• Monday, Jan. 4: teacher professional development day

Makeup days

No makeup days are added at the end of the year. The three contingency days, June 2 to 4, are built in as regular school days, and the last day stays Friday, June 4, even if school is canceled. If school closes for weather, the district announces how the day is made up.

Also worth knowing

• After the last day, the calendar still shows teacher workdays if school was canceled (June 7). Students are already out.

First and last day of school

The first day of school is Monday, Aug. 10, 2026. The last day is Friday, June 4, 2027.

Teachers start sooner. Staff days before school run Aug. 4 to 7.

Grading periods

WCSD grades in quarters; the first two make the fall semester and the last two the spring semester. The calendar prints each quarter's end date. Each quarter starts on the first school day after the last one ends.

What the district notes

• Schools closed Monday, Aug. 24 and Tuesday, Aug. 25 because of the Hawk Fire. The updated calendar (Sept. 16, 2026) shades both days.
• Oct. 12, Nov. 3 and Jan. 4 are professional development days with no students. Nevada rules count them as school days in session, so the calendar's printed totals (180 days) include them.
• June 2 to 4 were contingency days in past years. They are now regular school days, approved by the Nevada Department of Education, and the last day stays June 4 whatever closures happen.
• If school is canceled, June 7 to 9 may become extra teacher work days. Students are done on June 4 either way.
• Conference week is Friday, Oct. 23 and Monday, Oct. 26 to Thursday, Oct. 29. These are school days; the calendar gives no conference hours, so watch for your school's schedule.
• Tuesday, Feb. 23 is the College and Career Readiness Assessment, for high schools only. The calendar marks it in yellow, not as a day off.
• This is the Balanced Calendar, which most WCSD schools follow. Incline Village schools (classes from Aug. 17 to June 9), Gerlach K-12 School and TMCC High School have their own calendars on the same page.

How we checked these dates

We read every date off the district's own calendar twice: once from the PDF's text and once from the image, cell by cell against its legend. Then we checked each one against the WCSD Approved 2026-2027 School Year Calendars page, the Spanish edition of the Balanced Calendar and the district's news release on the updated calendars.

Every weekday on this page matches its date. If the district changes its calendar, its page is the final word.
