Also worth knowing

• School is open on a federal holiday: Veterans Day (Thursday, Nov. 11). Banks, post offices and many offices close; school does not.
• The calendar prints no testing dates.

First and last day of school

Teachers start sooner. Staff days before school run Aug. 25 to 26.

What the district notes

• The calendar counts 183 student days, including three emergency (snow) days. Two of them are already marked as closings, Friday, May 26 and Tuesday, May 30, which stay days off only while the emergency days go unused, so this page counts 181 school days. If no snow days are used, the district will announce more closings.
• If more than four snow days are used, they are made up starting Friday, April 21, the last day of spring break, and working backward, or as the Board of Education decides.
• During the K-5 conference week, the calendar also lists "Additional Early Dismissal - Grades 3-4 ONLY" on Thursday, Oct. 21 and Friday, Oct. 22.
• Early dismissal times: 12:55 p.m. at Milton Avenue, Southern Boulevard and Washington Avenue elementary schools (MAS, SBS, WAS), 1 p.m. at Lafayette Avenue School, noon at Chatham Middle School and 12:22 p.m. at Chatham High School. Delayed openings are 10:25 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 9:25 a.m. and 9:50 a.m. Preschool follows the MAS website.
• Regular school hours: 8:55 a.m. to 3:25 p.m. at MAS, SBS and WAS; 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Lafayette Avenue School; 7:55 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Chatham Middle School; 8:20 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Chatham High School.
• Chatham High School graduation is Friday, June 16, 2028, the last day of school.
• The Board of Education reserves the right to change this calendar as needed.

How we checked these dates

We read every date off the district's own calendar twice: once from the PDF's text and once from the image, cell by cell against its legend. Then we checked our count of every school day against the day counts the district prints. They match.

Every weekday on this page matches its date. If the district changes its calendar, its page is the final word.
