In Google Calendar

On a computer, open Google Calendar, then Settings, then Import & export. Choose the file and the calendar to add it to. The dates show up on your Android phone too.

Makeup days

The calendar names no bad-weather makeup days. If school closes for weather, the district announces how the day is made up.

Also worth knowing

• School is open on a federal holiday: Veterans Day (Thursday, Nov. 11). Banks, post offices and many offices close; school does not.
• The calendar lists no testing dates. RRISD links the state testing calendars from its Calendars page.
• After the last day, the calendar still shows teacher workday (May 26). Students are already out.

First and last day of school

The first day of school is Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2027. The last day is Thursday, May 25, 2028.

Teachers start sooner. Staff days before school run Aug. 9 to 17.

Grading periods

RRISD grades in nine-week periods. The calendar marks each period's first and last day; the first semester ends Dec. 16.

What the district notes

• School hours: elementary 7:35 a.m. to 2:55 p.m., middle school 8:15 a.m. to 3:35 p.m., high school 9 a.m. to 4:20 p.m.
• Teachers have one more workday after students leave, Friday, May 26.

How we checked these dates

We read every date off the district's own calendar twice: once from the PDF's text and once from the image, cell by cell against its legend. Then we checked each one against the RRISD Calendars page.

Every weekday on this page matches its date. If the district changes its calendar, its page is the final word.
