Long weekends and breaks

Every stretch of three or more days with no school, counting weekends. A half day next to a weekend adds half a day.

• 3-day weekend: Saturday, Sept. 5 to Monday, Sept. 7. Labor Day. Back Tuesday, Sept. 8.
• 3-day weekend: Friday, Sept. 18 to Sunday, Sept. 20. Campus professional learning day. Back Monday, Sept. 21.
• 5-day weekend: Friday, Oct. 9 to Tuesday, Oct. 13. Fall break. Back Wednesday, Oct. 14.
• 3-day weekend: Friday, Oct. 23 to Sunday, Oct. 25. Campus professional learning day. Back Monday, Oct. 26.
• 3-day weekend: Saturday, Oct. 31 to Monday, Nov. 2. Campus professional learning day. Back Tuesday, Nov. 3.
• 9 days off in a row: Saturday, Nov. 21 to Sunday, Nov. 29. Thanksgiving break. Back Monday, Nov. 30.

Weeks with fewer than five school days

Fifteen weeks have fewer than five school days, and four weeks have none at all.

Teacher workdays: no school for students

Six of the days off are staff days. Teachers work; students stay home. Plan child care as you would for a holiday.

Makeup days

The calendar names no bad weather makeup days. It says it contains enough minutes to cover two bad weather days. If school closes for weather, the district announces how the day is made up.

Also worth knowing

• School is open on a federal holiday: Veterans Day (Wednesday, Nov. 11). Banks, post offices and many offices close; school does not.
• The district calendar prints no parent-teacher conference days. Schools set their own.
• The district calendar prints no testing dates.
• After the last day, the calendar still shows Campus day (May 27), Memorial Day (May 31) and Juneteenth holiday (June 18). Students are already out.

First and last day of school

The first day of school is Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2026. The last day is Wednesday, May 26, 2027, with early dismissal.

Teachers start sooner. Staff days before school run Aug. 3 to 11.

What the district notes

• The calendar marks two early dismissals, Dec. 18 and May 26, but prints no dismissal time. Check your school's bell schedule for the time.
• Katy ISD builds enough extra minutes into the calendar to cover two bad weather days, so no makeup day is set aside.
• Fall break runs Friday, Oct. 9 to Tuesday, Oct. 13, and the March 26-29 holiday is a Friday and the Monday after it.
