Six early release days in all. Two are for every school. The other four are for some schools only.

Calendar notes: what to plan around

Long weekends and breaks

Every stretch of three or more days with no school, counting weekends. A half day next to a weekend adds half a day.

• 3-day weekend: Saturday, Sept. 5 to Monday, Sept. 7. Labor Day. Back Tuesday, Sept. 8.
• 5-day weekend: Thursday, Oct. 8 to Monday, Oct. 12. Fall break and professional development day. Back Tuesday, Oct. 13.
• 9 days off in a row: Saturday, Nov. 21 to Sunday, Nov. 29. Thanksgiving break. Back Monday, Nov. 30.
• 18.5 days off in a row: Friday, Dec. 18 at early dismissal to Tuesday, Jan. 5. Early release before winter break, winter break and professional development day. Back Wednesday, Jan. 6.
• 3-day weekend: Saturday, Jan. 16 to Monday, Jan. 18. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Back Tuesday, Jan. 19.
• 3-day weekend: Saturday, Feb. 13 to Monday, Feb. 15. Presidents Day. Back Tuesday, Feb. 16.
• 9 days off in a row: Saturday, March 13 to Sunday, March 21. Spring break. Back Monday, March 22.
• 4-day weekend: Friday, March 26 to Monday, March 29. Student and staff holiday and Inclement weather day. Back Tuesday, March 30.
• 3-day weekend: Saturday, April 17 to Monday, April 19. Inclement weather day. Back Tuesday, April 20.

Weeks with fewer than five school days

Twelve weeks have fewer than five school days, and four weeks have none at all.

Teacher workdays: no school for students

Three of the days off are staff days. Teachers work; students stay home. Plan child care as you would for a holiday.

Makeup days

Inclement weather day, Monday, March 29 (a school day only if the district needs it to make up a weather closing) and Inclement weather day, Monday, April 19 (a school day only if the district needs it to make up a weather closing).

Also worth knowing

• School is open on a federal holiday: Veterans Day (Wednesday, Nov. 11). Banks, post offices and many offices close; school does not.
• The calendar prints no testing windows. Dallas ISD posts them on its separate Districtwide Testing Schedule page.
• Some days off may change: Inclement weather day, March 29 (May become a school day if the district needs it to make up a weather closing; the web calendar calls it an Inclement Weather Make Up Day) and Inclement weather day, April 19 (May become a school day if the district needs it to make up a weather closing; the web calendar calls it an Inclement Weather Make Up Day).
• After the last day, the calendar still shows teacher workday (May 27) and Memorial Day (May 31). Students are already out.

First and last day of school

The first day of school is Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2026. The last day is Wednesday, May 26, 2027, with early dismissal.

Teachers start sooner. Staff days before school run Aug. 3 to 10.

Grading periods

Dallas ISD grades in nine-week periods. The calendar marks where each starts and ends; it prints no day counts or report card dates.

What the district notes

• Parent conference days are set by school level: high schools on Oct. 19 and Jan. 25, middle schools on Oct. 20 and Jan. 26, and elementary schools on Oct. 22 and Jan. 28. They are not days off. The calendar prints no conference schedule, so ask your school about times.
• The calendar prints no dismissal time for its early release days. Ask your school what time students leave.
• "Secondary only" early release days (Dec. 16 and 17, May 24 and 25) are for middle and high schools; the Spanish line reads "Secundarias y preparatorias." Elementary schools are not on early release those days.
• This is the Traditional calendar. Dallas ISD's ADSY (Additional Days School Year) campuses follow a separate ADSY calendar posted on the same page.
• The calendar's second page lists important dates and observances by month, such as Hispanic Heritage Month and School Lunch Hero Day. School is open on those days unless the first page marks them.

How we checked these dates

We read every date off the district's own calendar twice: once from the PDF's text and once from the image, cell by cell against its legend. Then we checked every day off, early release day, parent conference day and inclement weather day against the Dallas ISD Approved Calendars page and the district's web calendar. The other dates rest on the district's calendar alone.

Every weekday on this page matches its date. If the district changes its calendar, its page is the final word.
