Makeup days
The district calendar names no makeup days. If school closes for weather, the district announces how the day is made up.
Also worth knowing
- School is open on some federal holidays: Columbus Day (Monday, Oct. 12) and Veterans Day (Wednesday, Nov. 11). Banks, post offices and many offices close; school does not.
- The calendar prints no conference times. It gives two conference release days with no school, Nov. 23 and March 26.
- The district calendar lists no testing dates.
- After the last day, the calendar still shows Inservice days (May 27) and Memorial Day (May 31). Students are already out.
First and last day of school
The first day of school is Monday, Aug. 17, 2026 for grades 1, 3, 5, 6 and 9 and Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2026 for kindergarten and grades 2, 4, 7, 8, 10, 11 and 12. The last day is Wednesday, May 26, 2027.
Teachers start sooner. Staff days before school run Aug. 12 to 14.

What the district notes
- School starts in two groups: grades 1, 3, 5, 6 and 9 on Monday, Aug. 17, then kindergarten and grades 2, 4, 7, 8, 10, 11 and 12 join on Tuesday, Aug. 18 (the calendar lists grade 9 on both days).
- HELC students phase in by last name: A-L on Aug. 19, M-Z on Aug. 20. Preschool screenings on Aug. 17 and 18 are by appointment only.
- Thanksgiving week is off entirely: Monday, Nov. 23, is a conference release day, then Thanksgiving break runs Nov. 24-27.
- Fall break is a four-day weekend: Friday, Oct. 16, is an inservice day and Monday, Oct. 19, is fall break.
