In Google Calendar

On a computer, open Google Calendar, then Settings, then Import & export. Choose the file and the calendar to add it to. The dates show up on your Android phone too.

These files are a copy of the calendar today. If the district changes a date, download the file again.

CCS vacations and holidays, 2027-28

Every day with no school for students, from the first day to the last: 14 entries and 31 weekdays in all.

CCS early release days

The district calendar lists no early release days. Every school day on it is a full day.

Schools can still send their own early dismissal notices, so watch for those.

Weeks with fewer than five school days

Sixteen weeks have fewer than five school days, and two weeks have none at all.

Teacher workdays: no school for students

Six of the days off are staff days. Teachers work; students stay home. Plan child care as you would for a holiday.

• Friday, Sept. 24: teacher in-service day
• Monday, Oct. 18: teacher in-service day
• Friday, Nov. 12: teacher in-service day
• Friday, Jan. 28: teacher in-service day
• Friday, Feb. 18: teacher work day
• Friday, April 28: teacher work day

Makeup days

Centerville waives up to five calamity days without making them up. Any more are made up on dates the superintendent's office will announce. If school closes for weather, the district announces how the day is made up.

Also worth knowing

• School is open on some federal holidays: Columbus Day (Monday, Oct. 11) and Veterans Day (Thursday, Nov. 11). Banks, post offices and many offices close; school does not.
• The district calendar lists no testing dates.
• After the last day, the calendar still shows teacher in-service day (June 2). Students are already out.

First and last day of school

The first day of school is Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2027. The last day is Thursday, June 1, 2028.

Teachers start sooner. Staff days before school run Aug. 16 to 17.

Grading periods

The calendar prints 49 days for the 3rd quarter and 45 for the 4th. With Jan. 5 off, as the grid shows, our counts are 48 and 46.

What the district notes

• PreK students start a week later, on Wednesday, Aug. 25.
• Parent-teacher conferences run Oct. 27-28 at all levels, and schools are closed Thursday and Friday, Oct. 28-29, for a four-day weekend.
• Winter break: the calendar's date list says break runs Dec. 23 to Jan. 4, but its January grid shades Wednesday, Jan. 5 as a day with no school. This page shows Jan. 5 as a day off, as the grid does. The printed day counts do not settle it: the 176-day total fits Jan. 5 off, the 3rd quarter count (49 days) fits Jan. 5 as a school day, and the 4th quarter count (45 days) fits neither. Please confirm with your school before Jan. 5.
• Graduation for the Class of 2028 is Saturday, May 27, before the last day of school on Thursday, June 1.

How we checked these dates

We read every date off the district's own calendar twice: once from the PDF's text and once from the image, cell by cell against its legend. Then we checked our count of every school day against the day counts the district prints. The 176-day total and the 1st and 2nd quarter counts match ours. The 3rd and 4th quarter counts do not; see the note on Jan. 5 under Calendar notes.

Every weekday on this page matches its date. If the district changes its calendar, its page is the final word.
