On an iPhone

On a computer, open Google Calendar, then Settings, then Import & export. Choose the file and the calendar to add it to. The dates show up on your Android phone too.

In Outlook

Open the downloaded file, or in Outlook on the web go to Add calendar, then Upload from file.

These files are a copy of the calendar today. If the district changes a date, download the file again.

NYCPS vacations and holidays, 2026-27

Every day with no school for students, from the first day to the last: 13 entries and 30 weekdays in all.

Days off for some schools only

These are school days for everyone else, so they are not in the table or the counts above.

• Monday, Feb. 1: Professional development day, high schools and 6-12 schools only
• Tuesday, June 8: Clerical day, 3-K, Pre-K, elementary, middle and K-12 schools and standalone D75 programs only

Remote school days

School happens at home on this day. It counts as a school day, and students learn from home.

• Tuesday, Nov. 3: Election Day

Six early release days in all. All six are for some schools only.

Long weekends and breaks

Every stretch of three or more days with no school, counting weekends.

• 3-day weekend: Saturday, Sept. 19 to Monday, Sept. 21. Yom Kippur. Back Tuesday, Sept. 22.
• 3-day weekend: Saturday, Oct. 10 to Monday, Oct. 12. Italian Heritage Day and Indigenous Peoples' Day. Back Tuesday, Oct. 13.
• 4-day weekend: Thursday, Nov. 26 to Sunday, Nov. 29. Thanksgiving break. Back Monday, Nov. 30.
• 11 days off in a row: Thursday, Dec. 24 to Sunday, Jan. 3. Winter break. Back Monday, Jan. 4.
• 3-day weekend: Saturday, Jan. 16 to Monday, Jan. 18. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Back Tuesday, Jan. 19.
• 9 days off in a row: Saturday, Feb. 13 to Sunday, Feb. 21. Midwinter break. Back Monday, Feb. 22.
• 3-day weekend: Friday, March 26 to Sunday, March 28. Good Friday. Back Monday, March 29.
• 11 days off in a row: Thursday, April 22 to Sunday, May 2. Spring break. Back Monday, May 3.
• 3-day weekend: Saturday, May 15 to Monday, May 17. Eid al-Adha. Back Tuesday, May 18.

Weeks with fewer than five school days

Fourteen weeks have fewer than five school days, and three weeks have none at all.

Teacher workdays: no school for students

One of the days off is a staff day. Teachers work; students stay home. Plan child care as you would for a holiday.

Makeup days

The calendar names no makeup days. When weather or an emergency closes school buildings, NYCPS may hold school remotely instead. If school closes for weather, the district announces how the day is made up.

Also worth knowing

• School is open on a federal holiday: Juneteenth (Friday, June 18). Banks, post offices and many offices close; school does not.
• A remote school day: Tuesday, Nov. 3. It counts as a school day, but students learn at home. Plan for a child at home.
• Days off for some schools only: Monday, Feb. 1, high schools and 6-12 schools only and Tuesday, June 8, 3-K, Pre-K, elementary, middle and K-12 schools and standalone D75 programs only. Other schools are open. The list is under Vacations and holidays.

First and last day of school

The first day of school is Thursday, Sept. 10, 2026. The last day is Monday, June 28, 2027.

What the district notes

• Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3, is a school day, but every student learns remotely from home.
• When weather or an emergency closes school buildings, NYCPS may hold school remotely that day.
• NYCPS groups schools by level for conferences and early dismissals. Elementary schools are programs serving kindergarten through grade 8, including schools with 3-K and Pre-K and those ending in grade 5 or 6. Middle schools serve grades 6 to 8, high schools grades 9 to 12, and 6-12 schools only grades 6 to 12 in a single school.
• Your school's parent-teacher conference dates might differ from the calendar; your child's teacher schedules the conference with you.
• This calendar covers NYCPS schools from 3-K through grade 12. Charter, private and parochial schools, NYC Early Education Centers and Family Childcare Programs set their own calendars.
