CCSD vacations and holidays, 2026-27

Every day with no school for students, from the first day to the last: 16 entries and 31 weekdays in all.

Days off for some schools only

These are school days for everyone else, so they are not in the table or the counts above.

CCSD early release days

Five early release days in all. One is for every school. The other four are for some schools only.

Where the time varies by school, your school sends its own dismissal time.

Calendar notes: what to plan around

Long weekends and breaks

Every stretch of three or more days with no school, counting weekends. A half day next to a weekend adds half a day.

• 3-day weekend: Saturday, Sept. 5 to Monday, Sept. 7. Labor Day. Back Tuesday, Sept. 8.
• 3-day weekend: Saturday, Sept. 19 to Monday, Sept. 21. Yom Kippur. Back Tuesday, Sept. 22.
• 3-day weekend: Saturday, Oct. 10 to Monday, Oct. 12. Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples' Day. Back Tuesday, Oct. 13.
• 4.5-day weekend: Wednesday, Nov. 25 at early dismissal to Sunday, Nov. 29. Early release day before Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving break. Back Monday, Nov. 30.
• 3-day weekend: Friday, Dec. 4 to Sunday, Dec. 6. Parent-teacher conference day. Back Monday, Dec. 7.
• 11 days off in a row: Thursday, Dec. 24 to Sunday, Jan. 3. Winter recess. Back Monday, Jan. 4.
• 3-day weekend: Saturday, Jan. 16 to Monday, Jan. 18. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Back Tuesday, Jan. 19.

Weeks with fewer than five school days

Fifteen weeks have fewer than five school days, and three weeks have none at all.

Teacher workdays: no school for students

Two of the days off are staff days. Teachers work; students stay home. Plan child care as you would for a holiday.

Makeup days

Snow makeup day (fourth emergency closing), Friday, May 28 (No school unless the district uses a fourth emergency closing day), Snow makeup day (fifth emergency closing), Monday, March 29 (No school unless the district uses a fifth emergency closing day) and Snow makeup day (more emergency closings), Monday, April 19 (No school unless the district needs more emergency days).

Also worth knowing

• School is open on a federal holiday: Juneteenth (Friday, June 18). Banks, post offices and many offices close; school does not.
• The approved calendar marks no testing dates.
• Days off for some schools only: Friday, March 12, grades K-5 only. Other schools are open. The list is under Vacations and holidays.
• Some days off may change: recess day (snow makeup day), March 29 (Becomes a school day if the district uses a fifth emergency closing day) and recess day (snow makeup day), May 28 (Becomes a school day if the district uses a fourth emergency closing day).

First and last day of school

The first day of school is Thursday, Sept. 3, 2026. The last day is Friday, June 25, 2027.

Teachers start sooner. Staff days before school run Sept. 1 to 2.

The fourth quarter ends June 14; the last day of school is June 25.

What the district notes

• Three adverse weather days are built into the calendar. A fourth closing is made up on May 28, a fifth on March 29, and if more are needed, April 19 becomes a school day.
• Grades K-5 have no school on March 12 (parent-teacher conferences) and half days June 22-25; grades 6-12 have full days.
• The calendar counts 180 student days for grades K-5 and 181 for grades 6-12.

We read every date off the district's own calendar twice: once from the PDF's text and once from the image, cell by cell against its legend. Then we checked each one against the CCSD Calendars page and the CCSD 2026-27 printed calendar.
