Weeks with fewer than five school days

Fifteen weeks have fewer than five school days, and two weeks have none at all.

Teacher workdays: no school for students

One of the days off is a staff day. Teachers work; students stay home. Plan child care as you would for a holiday.

• Monday, Oct. 12: staff professional day (no school for students)

Makeup days

First snow makeup day (if needed), Monday, April 12 (a school day only if a snow day is used), Second snow makeup day (if needed), Friday, May 28 (a school day only if two snow days are used) and Third snow makeup day (if needed), Tuesday, June 1 (a school day only if three snow days are used).

Also worth knowing

• School is open on a federal holiday: Veterans Day (Wednesday, Nov. 11). Banks, post offices and many offices close; school does not.
• The calendar prints no testing dates.
• Some days off may change: Snow day giveback (day off unless needed), April 12 (A day off unless snow days are used; it is the 1st giveback day, so it becomes a school day only after one snow day is used), Snow day giveback (day off unless needed), May 28 (A day off unless snow days are used; it is the 2nd giveback day, so it becomes a school day only after two snow days are used) and Snow day giveback (day off unless needed), June 1 (A day off unless snow days are used; it is the 3rd giveback day, so it becomes a school day only after three snow days are used).

First and last day of school

The first day of school is Monday, Aug. 31, 2026. The last day is Thursday, June 17, 2027, with early dismissal.

Teachers start sooner. Staff days before school run Aug. 27 to 28.

What the district notes

• The calendar's summary counts 183 student days and 186 staff days. That total includes the three snow giveback days (April 12, May 28 and June 1), which are days off unless snow days are used, so students have 180 days if no snow days are needed.
• The high school's spring parent-teacher conference is Tuesday, March 23 on the calendar PDF but Thursday, March 25 on the district's events calendar. Check with Tenafly High School.
• Early dismissal times: 12:45 p.m. for K-5, 12:30 p.m. for Tenafly Middle School and 12:10 p.m. for Tenafly High School. The CUBS preschool PM class is canceled on early dismissal days.
• Tenafly Middle School graduation is Tuesday, June 15 and Tenafly High School graduation is Wednesday, June 16, 2027.
• Back to school nights: Tenafly Middle School Sept. 16, elementary schools Sept. 17 and Tenafly High School Sept. 24.

How we checked these dates

We read every date off the district's own calendar twice: once from the PDF's text and once from the image, cell by cell against its legend. Then we checked each one against the district's calendars and school hours page and the district's events calendar.

Every weekday on this page matches its date. If the district changes its calendar, its page is the final word.
