Weeks with fewer than five school days

Thirteen weeks have fewer than five school days, and two weeks have none at all.

Teacher workdays: no school for students

Two of the days off are staff days. Teachers work; students stay home. Plan child care as you would for a holiday.

• Monday, Oct. 12: staff training day, no school for students
• Tuesday, Nov. 3: Election Day, no school for students (staff training)

Makeup days

Emergency makeup days (spring break), Monday, April 12 (only if the district uses more than three emergency closing days, starting April 12 and working forward as needed).

Also worth knowing

• School is open on a federal holiday: Veterans Day (Wednesday, Nov. 11). Banks, post offices and many offices close; school does not.
• The calendar prints no testing dates.
• Some days off may change: spring break, April 12 to 16 (If the district uses more than three emergency closing days, makeup days start April 12 and run through April 16 as needed).
• After the last day, the calendar still shows Juneteenth (June 18). Students are already out.

First and last day of school

The first day of school is Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026. The last day is Thursday, June 17, 2027, with early dismissal.

Teachers start sooner. Staff days before school run Aug. 24 to 31.

What the district notes

• The calendar has 183 student days, with three emergency closing days built in. If the district uses only one emergency closing day, school is closed on Friday, May 28, and Tuesday, June 1.
• If the district uses more than three emergency closing days, school makes them up on April 12 to 16 (spring break) as needed. Closings after April 16 are made up at the end of the year.
• Short days are 4 hours for grades K-12 and 3 hours for Pre-K. Conference days are short days for the elementary schools and Pre-K only.
• Columbia High School graduation falls in the June 15 to 17 short-day week.

How we checked these dates

We read every date off the district's own calendar image twice: once whole, cell by cell against its legend, and once on zoomed crops of each month. Then we checked each one against the district calendar page and the district's online Google calendar.

Every weekday on this page matches its date. If the district changes its calendar, its page is the final word.
