Long weekends and breaks

Every stretch of three or more days with no school, counting weekends. A half day next to a weekend adds half a day.

Makeup days

The calendar names no makeup days. Its key has a mark for snow days, used when school closes. If school closes for weather, the district announces how the day is made up.

Also worth knowing

  • School is open on a federal holiday: Veterans Day (Wednesday, Nov. 11). Banks, post offices and many offices close; school does not.
  • The calendar lists high school exams in January as early dismissal days for high school students, with the dates still to be set ("January XX-XX").

What the district notes

  • The calendar prints no dismissal times for its early dismissal days. The district's length of day schedule lists early dismissal times for emergencies only.
  • School starts the week before Labor Day: Thursday, Sept. 3, and Friday, Sept. 4, are both early dismissal days, then Labor Day closes school Monday, Sept. 7.
  • The teacher convention closes school Thursday and Friday, Nov. 5-6, for a four-day weekend.
  • The calendar prints the student day count for each month; they add up to 180 student days (183 for staff).
