Add the OPS calendar to your phone

On an iPhone

In Google Calendar

On a computer, open Google Calendar, then Settings, then Import & export. Choose the file and the calendar to add it to. The dates show up on your Android phone too.

In Outlook

Open the downloaded file, or in Outlook on the web go to Add calendar, then Upload from file.

These files are a copy of the calendar today. If the district changes a date, download the file again.

OPS vacations and holidays, 2026-27

Every day with no school for students, from the first day to the last: 13 entries and 33 weekdays in all.

Days off for some schools only

These are school days for everyone else, so they are not in the table or the counts above.

• Wednesday, Aug. 19: Returning students start Aug. 20 (no school), students not starting kindergarten, middle school or high school only
• Friday, Sept. 4: No school, Blackburn, ESP, SSP, ILP and Transition programs only
• Friday, Sept. 11: No school, Blackburn, ESP, SSP, ILP and Transition programs only
• Tuesday, Nov. 10: PreACT day (no school), high school grades 11 and 12 only
• Friday, Jan. 15: Kindergarten registration day (no school), kindergarten only
• Tuesday, April 6: ACT day (no school), high school grades 9, 10 and 12 only

OPS early release days

The 2026-27 calendar prints no early release days. It has four two-hour late starts instead.

Schools can still send their own early dismissal notices, so watch for those.

Calendar notes: what to plan around

Long weekends and breaks

Every stretch of three or more days with no school, counting weekends.

• 3-day weekend: Saturday, Sept. 5 to Monday, Sept. 7. Labor Day. Back Tuesday, Sept. 8.
• 3-day weekend: Friday, Oct. 2 to Sunday, Oct. 4. No school. Back Monday, Oct. 5.
• 4-day weekend: Thursday, Oct. 22 to Sunday, Oct. 25. Conference days (no school). Back Monday, Oct. 26.
• 9 days off in a row: Saturday, Nov. 21 to Sunday, Nov. 29. Thanksgiving break. Back Monday, Nov. 30.
• 17 days off in a row: Saturday, Dec. 19 to Monday, Jan. 4. Winter break. Back Tuesday, Jan. 5.
• 3-day weekend: Saturday, Jan. 16 to Monday, Jan. 18. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Back Tuesday, Jan. 19.
• 4-day weekend: Friday, Feb. 12 to Monday, Feb. 15. No school and Presidents Day. Back Tuesday, Feb. 16.
• 11 days off in a row: Thursday, March 11 to Sunday, March 21. Conference days (no school) and spring break. Back Monday, March 22.
• 4-day weekend: Friday, April 16 to Monday, April 19. No school. Back Tuesday, April 20.

Weeks with fewer than five school days

Thirteen weeks have fewer than five school days, and four weeks have none at all.

Makeup days

The 2026-27 calendar names no snow or weather makeup days. If school closes for weather, the district announces how the day is made up.

Also worth knowing

• School is open on some federal holidays: Columbus Day (Monday, Oct. 12) and Veterans Day (Wednesday, Nov. 11). Banks, post offices and many offices close; school does not.
• Days off for some schools only: Wednesday, Aug. 19, students not starting kindergarten, middle school or high school only, Friday, Sept. 4, Blackburn, ESP, SSP, ILP and Transition programs only, Friday, Sept. 11, Blackburn, ESP, SSP, ILP and Transition programs only, Tuesday, Nov. 10, high school grades 11 and 12 only, Friday, Jan. 15, kindergarten only and Tuesday, April 6, high school grades 9, 10 and 12 only. Other schools are open. The list is under Vacations and holidays.
• After the last day, the calendar still shows Memorial Day (May 31). Students are already out.

First and last day of school

The first day of school is Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2026 for kindergarten and students starting middle or high school and Thursday, Aug. 20, 2026 for all other students. The last day is Wednesday, May 26, 2027.

Grading periods

OPS grades in four quarters. The calendar prints each quarter's start and end date but no day counts.

What the district notes

• School starts in stages. Kindergarten and students starting middle school or high school begin Wednesday, Aug. 19. All other K-12 students begin Thursday, Aug. 20. Pre-K begins Wednesday, Aug. 26 (OPS posts a separate early childhood calendar).
• All students start two hours late on Tuesday, Sept. 29, Tuesday, Oct. 27, Tuesday, Jan. 26 and Tuesday, Feb. 23. Regular hours: elementary 8:50 a.m. to 4:05 p.m., middle and high school 7:40 a.m. to 3:05 p.m.
• Friday, May 14 is the last official day for high school seniors.
• Wilson Focus School and alternative programs set their own start and end times, and Wilson Focus has its own calendar. Check with your child's school for school-level event dates.

How we checked these dates

We read every date off the district's own calendar twice: once from the PDF's text and once from the image, cell by cell against its legend. Then we checked each one against the OPS Calendars and School Hours page and the Spanish edition of the district calendar.

Every weekday on this page matches its date. If the district changes its calendar, its page is the final word.
