Makeup days
The calendar names no makeup days. If school closes for weather, the district announces how the day is made up.

- School is open on some federal holidays: Columbus Day (Monday, Oct. 12) and Veterans Day (Wednesday, Nov. 11). Banks, post offices and many offices close; school does not.
- The calendar lists no testing dates.
- Days off for some schools only: Thursday, Nov. 12, elementary schools (grades E-5) only and Friday, Feb. 12, elementary schools (grades E-5) only. Other schools are open. The list is under Vacations and holidays.
- After the last day, the calendar still shows staff workday (June 10) and Juneteenth (observed) (June 18). Students are already out.
First and last day of school
The first day of school is Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026 for grades 6 and 9, then grades 7-8 and 10-12 on Wednesday, Sept. 9 and Thursday, Sept. 10, 2026 for grades K-5. The last day is Wednesday, June 9, 2027, with early dismissal.

- The first day is staggered: grades 6 and 9 start Tuesday, Sept. 8; grades 7-8 and 10-12 start Wednesday, Sept. 9; grades K-5 start Thursday, Sept. 10, after elementary assessment dates on Sept. 8-9.
- Open houses: grades 6-8 on Sept. 2 and grades 9-12 on Sept. 16 (evenings).
