- School is open on some federal holidays: Veterans Day (Thursday, Nov. 11) and Washington's Birthday (Presidents' Day) (Monday, Feb. 21). Banks, post offices and many offices close; school does not.
- The student calendar marks no testing dates.

What the district notes
- The first days are staggered: grade 9 starts Monday, Aug. 30; grade 6 and grades 10-12 start Tuesday, Aug. 31; kindergarten to grade 5 and grades 7 and 8 start Wednesday, Sept. 1. Grades K-8 have start-of-year conferences on Aug. 30, and grades K-5, 7 and 8 on Aug. 31.
- Some days off are for younger grades only: grades K-5 have no school on Nov. 23 and March 3, and grades K-8 have no school on March 27. Older grades have school those days.
- Graduation: Central on Wednesday, May 31, at 5 p.m. at Lincoln Community School; East High School at 5:30 p.m. and West High School at 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 1, at the Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center.
