Three of the days off are staff days. Teachers work; students stay home. Plan child care as you would for a holiday.

Also worth knowing
- School is open on some federal holidays: Columbus Day (Monday, Oct. 12) and Veterans Day (Wednesday, Nov. 11). Banks, post offices and many offices close; school does not.
- After the last day, the calendar still shows District PD day (June 8), teacher records day, last day for teachers (June 9) and Juneteenth (June 18). Students are already out.
First and last day of school
The first day of school is Monday, Aug. 24, 2026 for kindergarten to grade 12 and Monday, Aug. 31, 2026 for pre-K. The last day is Monday, June 7, 2027.
Teachers start sooner. Staff days before school run Aug. 17 to 21.
Grading periods
Quarters 1 and 2 make up the first semester, which ends Jan. 15. The calendar marks the first and last day of each quarter and three report card days.

What the district notes
- The calendar marks nine Wednesdays as school-based professional development days (Sept. 9 and 23, Nov. 18, Dec. 9, Jan. 6 and 20, Feb. 24, April 21, May 12 and 26; a staff meeting may be held instead). They are not marked as days off.
- Membership count days are Wednesday, Oct. 7 and Wednesday, Feb. 10. Both are regular school days.
- June 14 to 17 are set aside as student makeup days, used only if needed after emergency closures or low staff attendance at districtwide PD days. If they are used, the school year runs past June 7.
- Teachers report Aug. 17. Their last day is June 9.
