Weeks with fewer than five school days

Eleven weeks have fewer than five school days, and three weeks have none at all.

Makeup days

Sharon names no separate makeup days: snow days are made up by extending the year past June 16, up to June 24 if five snow days are used. If school closes for weather, the district announces how the day is made up.

Also worth knowing

• The calendar prints no testing dates.
• The last day can move. June 16 if no snow days are used; each snow day adds a school day, up to Thursday, June 24 if five snow days are used (June 18, Juneteenth, stays a day off). The planned last day is Wednesday, June 16; it can fall from Wednesday, June 16 to Thursday, June 24.
• After the last day, the calendar still shows Juneteenth (observed) (June 18). Students are already out.

First and last day of school

The first day of school is Monday, Aug. 31, 2026 for grades 1-12 and Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026 for kindergarten (preschool starts Sept. 2). The last day is Wednesday, June 16, 2027, with early dismissal, as planned. It can fall anywhere from Wednesday, June 16 to Thursday, June 24: June 16 if no snow days are used; each snow day adds a school day, up to Thursday, June 24 if five snow days are used (June 18, Juneteenth, stays a day off).

Teachers start sooner. Staff days before school run Aug. 27 to 28.

How we checked these dates

We read every date off the district's own calendar twice: once from the PDF's text and once from the image, cell by cell against its legend. Then we checked each one against the district home page's School Year Calendar links, East Elementary's online calendar, the Early Childhood Center's online calendar, Sharon High School's home page and Sharon Middle School's home page.

Every weekday on this page matches its date. If the district changes its calendar, its page is the final word.
