Weeks with fewer than five school days

Twelve weeks have fewer than five school days, and three weeks have none at all.

Teacher workdays: no school for students

One of the days off is a staff day. Teachers work; students stay home. Plan child care as you would for a holiday.

• Tuesday, Nov. 3: Election Day, staff PD day (no school for students)

Makeup days

No makeup days are dated. Five snow days are built into the end of the year: the planned last day, June 23, includes them, and the printed day counts reach 180 days on June 15. If school closes for weather, the district announces how the day is made up.

Also worth knowing

• MCAS testing dates are set by the state; the calendar lists every MCAS test as "TBD by State" and points to school websites for the dates.
• The last day can move. June 23 includes five snow days. The printed monthly day counts reach 180 days on Tuesday, June 15, so the last day can come as early as June 15 if snow days are not used. The planned last day is Wednesday, June 23; it can fall from Tuesday, June 15 to Wednesday, June 23.

First and last day of school

The first day of school is Monday, Aug. 31, 2026 for grades 1-12 and Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026 for kindergarten. The last day is Wednesday, June 23, 2027, as planned. It can fall anywhere from Tuesday, June 15 to Wednesday, June 23: June 23 includes five snow days. The printed monthly day counts reach 180 days on Tuesday, June 15, so the last day can come as early as June 15 if snow days are not used.

Teachers start sooner. Staff days before school run Aug. 26 to 28.

How we checked these dates

We read every date off the district's own calendar twice: once from the PDF's text and once from the image, cell by cell against its legend. Then we checked every date on the month grids and lists against the district's Calendars and Events page and the March 2026 edition of the calendar. The other dates rest on the district's calendar alone.

Every weekday on this page matches its date. If the district changes its calendar, its page is the final word.
