Teacher workdays: no school for students
Two of the days off are staff days. Teachers work; students stay home. Plan child care as you would for a holiday.

Makeup days
The calendar names no makeup days. If school closes for weather, the district announces how the day is made up.
Also worth knowing
- School is open on some federal holidays: Columbus Day (Monday, Oct. 12) and Veterans Day (Wednesday, Nov. 11). Banks, post offices and many offices close; school does not.
- The school year calendar lists no testing dates. MCS posts a separate System-Wide Assessment Calendar on its School Calendars page.
- After the last day, the calendar still shows Post-planning (no school) (May 27), Memorial Day (May 31) and Juneteenth (observed) (June 18). Students are already out.

The first day of school is Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2026. The last day is Wednesday, May 26, 2027.
Teachers start sooner. Staff days before school run Aug. 3.

What the district notes
- Conference weeks: elementary schools dismiss at 1:15 p.m. Oct. 12-16; MCAA, the Marietta Sixth Grade Academy (MSGA) and Marietta Middle School (MMS) dismiss at 1:15 p.m. Oct. 19-23. Marietta High School has no conference week on the calendar.
- Presidents Day and winter break run together, so students have the whole week of Presidents Day off.
