Teacher workdays: no school for students
Four of the days off are staff days. Teachers work; students stay home. Plan child care as you would for a holiday.
- Friday, Sept. 25: student holiday, teacher workday
- Monday, Oct. 12: student holiday, teacher workday
- Monday, Feb. 15: Presidents Day (student holiday, teacher workday)
- Friday, March 19: student holiday, teacher workday
Makeup days
The calendar sets no makeup days. BPS covers up to three missed days with instructional time built into the first semester; more would push the first semester into the second. If school closes for weather, the district announces how the day is made up.
Also worth knowing
- The calendar prints no parent-teacher conference days. Schools set their own.
- The calendar prints no testing dates. BPS posts a separate Uniform Assessment Calendar.
- After the last day, the calendar still shows teacher post planning (after the last day) (May 27) and Memorial Day (May 31). Students are already out.
First and last day of school
The first day of school is Monday, Aug. 10, 2026. The last day is Wednesday, May 26, 2027, with early dismissal.
Teachers start sooner. Staff days before school run Aug. 3 to 7.
Grading periods
BPS grades in nine-week quarters and prints 90 school days in each semester. Report cards and interim reports are published on Focus on the dates in the district's calendar list.

How we checked these dates
We read every date off the district's own calendar twice: once from the PDF's text and once from the image, cell by cell against its legend. Then we checked each one against the BPS 2026-2027 School Calendar date list, the BPS 2026-2027 Make Up Day Priority and the BPS Printable District Calendars page.
Every weekday on this page matches its date. If the district changes its calendar, its page is the final word.
