What the district notes
- Kindergarten and grades 6 and 9 start Monday, Aug. 31. All K-12 students report Tuesday, Sept. 1. Preschool home visits run Aug. 31 to Sept. 3, and preschool starts Tuesday, Sept. 8.
- The last day for preschool is Thursday, June 10. June 11 is an abbreviated day and the last day for kindergarten through grade 11; ask your school for its dismissal time.
- Snow or emergency closings are made up on the student contingency days, in this order: June 14, 15, 16, 17 and 21. If all five are used, the last day moves to Monday, June 21.
- Thanksgiving week is off for students: conferences Nov. 23-24, a professional responsibilities day Nov. 25 and the holiday Nov. 26-27. Spring break runs from the data day Thursday, March 25, through Friday, April 2.
- Dec. 11 is a professional development day for the Colwyck preschool only: no preschool that day; K-12 schools are open.
- William Penn High School gives half-day final exams for grades 9-11 in the first week of June, with make-up exams Tuesday, June 8. Check the school's exam schedule for the exact days.
- Delaware sets the school year in hours: the calendar says every grade meets the state's required 1,060 hours.
