• Tuesday, Nov. 3: Election Day, teacher PD day (no school for students)
• Friday, Feb. 12: teacher PD day (no school for students)

Makeup days

The calendar sets no makeup days. Weather-related changes to the last day of school are announced in a separate document. If school closes for weather, the district announces how the day is made up.

Also worth knowing

• The district calendar prints no parent-teacher conference dates. Schools set their own.
• The calendar prints no testing dates.

First and last day of school

The first day of school is Thursday, Aug. 27, 2026 for grades K-9 and Friday, Aug. 28, 2026 for grades 10-12. The last day is Tuesday, June 15, 2027, with early dismissal.

What the district notes

On the district's online calendar, Barlow Mountain, Branchville, Farmingville, Scotland and Veterans Park list early dismissals Nov. 20, 23 and 24, and East Ridge Middle School lists Nov. 4, 6 and 13. Check your school's calendar.
• The calendar counts 181 student days.
• Regular dismissal: Ridgefield High 2:15 p.m., East Ridge and Scotts Ridge 2:50 p.m., Branchville, Ridgebury and Scotland 3:25 p.m., Barlow Mountain, Farmingville and Veterans Park 4 p.m.

How we checked these dates

We read every date off the district's own calendar twice: once from the PDF's text and once from the image, cell by cell against its legend. Then we checked every date from Oct. 1 on (the online calendar lists no earlier dates) against the RPS District Calendar page, the RPS 2026-27 School Hours sheet and the district's online calendar. The other dates rest on the district's calendar alone.

Every weekday on this page matches its date. If the district changes its calendar, its page is the final word.
