The SCUSD calendar prints no early release or minimum days.

Schools can still send their own early dismissal notices, so watch for those.

Long weekends and breaks

Every stretch of three or more days with no school, counting weekends.

• 4-day weekend: Saturday, Sept. 5 to Tuesday, Sept. 8. Holiday and professional development day (no school for students). Back Wednesday, Sept. 9.
• 4-day weekend: Saturday, Oct. 10 to Tuesday, Oct. 13. School not in session. Back Wednesday, Oct. 14.
• 9 days off in a row: Saturday, Nov. 21 to Sunday, Nov. 29. Thanksgiving break. Back Monday, Nov. 30.
• 17 days off in a row: Saturday, Dec. 19 to Monday, Jan. 4. Winter break and professional development day (no school for students). Back Tuesday, Jan. 5.
• 3-day weekend: Saturday, Jan. 16 to Monday, Jan. 18. Holiday. Back Tuesday, Jan. 19.
• 9 days off in a row: Saturday, Feb. 13 to Sunday, Feb. 21. February break. Back Monday, Feb. 22.
• 4-day weekend: Thursday, March 18 to Sunday, March 21. Professional development days (no school for students). Back Monday, March 22.
• 9 days off in a row: Saturday, April 10 to Sunday, April 18. Spring break. Back Monday, April 19.

Weeks with fewer than five school days

Seven weeks have fewer than five school days, and five weeks have none at all.

Teacher workdays: no school for students

Three of the days off are staff days. Teachers work; students stay home. Plan child care as you would for a holiday.

Makeup days

The calendar sets no makeup days. If school closes for weather, the district announces how the day is made up.

First and last day of school

The first day of school is Monday, Aug. 10, 2026. The last day is Friday, June 4, 2027.

What the district notes

• The year has 180 student days: 85 in the first semester and 95 in the second.
• Several days off are "school not in session" days: no school for students, but the district office is open. On holidays, schools and district offices are both closed.

How we checked these dates

We read every date off the district's own calendar twice: once from the PDF's text and once from the image, cell by cell against its legend. Then we checked each one against the SCUSD Calendar page and its text version of the calendar and the Spanish edition of the calendar.

Every weekday on this page matches its date. The district's printed day counts match our own count of its calendar. If the district changes its calendar, its page is the final word.
