SRVUSD early release days

Ten early release days in all. Two are for every school. The other eight are for some schools only.

Where the time varies by school, your school sends its own dismissal time.

Calendar notes: what to plan around

Long weekends and breaks

Every stretch of three or more days with no school, counting weekends.

• 3-day weekend: Saturday, Sept. 5 to Monday, Sept. 7. Labor Day. Back Tuesday, Sept. 8.
• 3-day weekend: Friday, Oct. 2 to Sunday, Oct. 4. Floating work day (no school for students). Back Monday, Oct. 5.
• 9 days off in a row: Saturday, Nov. 21 to Sunday, Nov. 29. Thanksgiving break. Back Monday, Nov. 30.
• 17 days off in a row: Saturday, Dec. 19 to Monday, Jan. 4. Winter break and Floating work day (no school for students). Back Tuesday, Jan. 5.
• 3-day weekend: Saturday, Jan. 16 to Monday, Jan. 18. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Back Tuesday, Jan. 19.
• 4-day weekend: Saturday, Feb. 13 to Tuesday, Feb. 16. Presidents Day and staff development day (no school for students). Back Wednesday, Feb. 17.
• 3-day weekend: Friday, March 12 to Sunday, March 14. Floating work day (no school for students). Back Monday, March 15.
• 10 days off in a row: Friday, April 2 to Sunday, April 11. Spring break. Back Monday, April 12.
• 4-day weekend: Friday, May 28 to Monday, May 31. Day off before Memorial Day and Memorial Day. Back Tuesday, June 1.

Weeks with fewer than five school days

Eleven weeks have fewer than five school days, and four weeks have none at all.

Teacher workdays: no school for students

Four of the days off are staff days. Teachers work; students stay home. Plan child care as you would for a holiday.

Makeup days

The calendar names no makeup days. If school closes for weather, the district announces how the day is made up.

Also worth knowing

• School is open on a federal holiday: Columbus Day (Monday, Oct. 12). Banks, post offices and many offices close; school does not.

First and last day of school

The first day of school is Thursday, Aug. 13, 2026. The last day is Thursday, June 3, 2027, with early dismissal.

Teachers start sooner. Staff days before school run Aug. 11 to 12.

The district prints 180 instructional days across the semesters. Our count of the calendar matches.

Grading periods

The calendar also marks the end of the first quarter on Friday, Oct. 9 (40 days) and the end of the third quarter on Friday, March 19 (50 days).

What the district notes

• The calendar counts 180 student days: 84 in the first semester and 96 in the second.
• Minimum day dismissal times are set by each school. The district says schools also have their own minimum days that are not on this calendar, so check your school's website calendar too.
• The Advanced Placement (AP) exam window in May is marked "TBD" on the calendar.
• The S.I.T.E.S. program has its own 2026-27 instructional calendar, linked on the district's Instructional Calendar page. This page follows the standard district calendar.
• Juneteenth (Friday, June 18) and Independence Day (Friday, July 3, 2026) are district holidays outside the school year.
