On an iPhone

These files are a copy of the calendar today. If the district changes a date, download the file again.

The 2026-27 San Diego Unified academic calendar marks no early release or minimum days.

Schools can still send their own early dismissal notices, so watch for those.

Calendar notes: what to plan around

Long weekends and breaks

Every stretch of three or more days with no school, counting weekends.

• 3-day weekend: Saturday, Sept. 5 to Monday, Sept. 7. Labor Day. Back Tuesday, Sept. 8.
• 3-day weekend: Saturday, Oct. 10 to Monday, Oct. 12. Indigenous Peoples' Day (no school). Back Tuesday, Oct. 13.
• 9 days off in a row: Saturday, Nov. 21 to Sunday, Nov. 29. Thanksgiving break. Back Monday, Nov. 30.
• 17 days off in a row: Saturday, Dec. 19 to Monday, Jan. 4. Winter break. Back Tuesday, Jan. 5.
• 3-day weekend: Saturday, Jan. 16 to Monday, Jan. 18. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Back Tuesday, Jan. 19.
• 4-day weekend: Friday, Feb. 12 to Monday, Feb. 15. Presidents' Day holiday and Presidents' Day. Back Tuesday, Feb. 16.
• 3-day weekend: Saturday, March 6 to Monday, March 8. Non-instructional day (no school). Back Tuesday, March 9.
• 9 days off in a row: Saturday, March 27 to Sunday, April 4. Spring break. Back Monday, April 5.

Weeks with fewer than five school days

Nine weeks have fewer than five school days, and four weeks have none at all.

Makeup days

The academic calendar names no makeup days. If school closes for weather, the district announces how the day is made up.

Also worth knowing

• The district academic calendar prints no parent-teacher conference days. Schools set their own.
• After the last day, the calendar still shows Memorial Day (May 31) and Juneteenth holiday (June 18). Students are already out.

First and last day of school

The first day of school is Monday, Aug. 10, 2026. The last day is Wednesday, May 26, 2027.

What the district notes

• San Diego Unified is closed on Veterans Day (Wednesday, Nov. 11) and on Friday, Feb. 12, the Friday before Presidents' Day, as well as Monday, Feb. 15.
• Winter break runs from Monday, Dec. 21 through Monday, Jan. 4, a non-instructional day. Students return Tuesday, Jan. 5.
• The calendar counts 180 instruction days: 16 in August, 21 in September, 21 in October, 15 in November, 14 in December, 18 in January, 18 in February, 19 in March, 20 in April and 18 in May.
