Two of the days off are staff days. Teachers work; students stay home. Plan child care as you would for a holiday.

Makeup days
The calendar names no makeup days. If school closes for weather, the district announces how the day is made up.
Also worth knowing
- School is open on a federal holiday: Columbus Day (Monday, Oct. 12). Banks, post offices and many offices close; school does not.
- The district calendar lists no testing dates.
- Days off for some schools only: Wednesday, Nov. 4, middle schools only and Wednesday, Nov. 18, elementary schools only. Other schools are open. The list is under Vacations and holidays.

The first day of school is Monday, Aug. 17, 2026. The last day is Friday, June 11, 2027.
Teachers start sooner. Staff days before school run Aug. 13 to 14.
What the district notes
- Every Thursday is a minimum day for students in grades TK-8, starting Aug. 20. The week before winter break, the minimum day moves to Friday, Dec. 18, and Thursday, Dec. 17 is a full day.
- Conference days are split by level: middle school students have no school on Wednesday, Nov. 4, and elementary students have no school on Wednesday, Nov. 18. Each student has 180 school days, the total the district prints; the 181 days we count include both conference days, since each one is a school day for the other level.
- Students are off Monday through Wednesday, Nov. 9-11 (Diwali, a no-school day and Veterans Day), for a five-day weekend.
